Thanks to a poor economy, piracy, bad consumer confidence, and coupled with the fact almost 70% of people think porn is free have fucked things for website operators, DVD sales, and now all it is hitting the production level. That’s right, your favorite top pornstar is probably having to “book privates” to pay the bills (Industry Scoop: most pornstars are available as escorts).

Take these examples Mr Chews Asian Beaver and Mr Big Dicks Hot Chicks shoot about half the number of updates that it did a year ago. Even solid companies like Pornpros and Reality Kings have had to stop filming (see Flexible Positions and VIP Crew) lines that were too expimive or not a massive hit. Unscrupulous companies such as Brazzers has put so much of their competitors content on thier network of porn tube sites that even BRAZZERS is suffering right now! They need to realize that porn surfers are not so brand loyal that they will continue supporting a company past when they’ve shot a lot of goo across the keyboard!

One of the only growth stories is in mobile porn. PinksVisual, Pornpros, and Filthfreaks all have new mobile platforms they hope will save them.

It should be interesting to see how the porn business will adapt to the looming threats. Many say it’s like the music business “adapt or die”, but unlike music, porn is a dirty little secret people like to hide. There will be no t-shirts or contents.
